Board Member Profiles
Asma Rashid Khan, Co-Founder & Chairperson
Asma has over a decade of experience working in the development sector, particularly in education. She lead a number of fund-raising campaigns for The Citizens Foundation, advised the TCF board on strategy, lead policy dialogues with policy-makers on education prioritization, and engaged with donors to introduce then to the work of TCF. She is currently the Director of the Satrang Gallery at the Serena Hotel in Islamabad, a new initiative to encourage and promote young and local artists.
Natasha Reneé Qamar, Co-Founder
Natasha manages communications at Shell Pakistan in External Affairs and oversees internal and external communications, media relations, stakeholder management, crisis management and social investments. She has worked in Pakistan since 2008 in communication and media-related roles, with both Aga Khan University and Panos South Asia. She was previously a Corporate Litigation Assistant at Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP in New York.
Natasha completed her Bachelors of Arts at Cornell University in Government in 2006. She is also extensively involved with a number of organizations in the development sector in Pakistan including Aahung, CEDF, Thardeep Rural Development Programme, Association for the Development of Pakistan, the Acumen Fund Pakistan.
Suhair F. Khan, Co-Founder
Suhair works at Google as a Finance Analyst. She was previously an investment banker, focusing on Convertible Debt and Equity Derivatives at Deutsche Bank in New York. She has written multiple papers on Macro-economics and Development, the most recent of which was published in the Journal of Applied Financial Economics in February 2011.
She completed her Masters in International Development from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University in June 2010 and completed her undergrad at Cornell University, graduating in Economics and Government in 2006. Suhair has volunteered with The Citizen’s Foundation, is on the benefit committee of The Somaly Mam Foundation, and serves as a mentor to social media activist start-up Crowdvoice.org.
Izza Farrakh
Izza has over ten years of experience working with schools, local and international organizations and donors. Focusing on education policy, planning, and communications, she has helped district and provincial governments in Pakistan develop sector plans; improve data collection and management; reform in-service teacher professional development; strengthen student assessment; and enhance the capacity of school and district level managers and the institutions in which they work. Izza completed her Bachelors in Economics and English from the University of Virginia and is currently enrolled in a Masters in Public Policy and Management at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London.
