The Power of Girl’s Schooling for Young Women’s Empowerment and Reproductive Health
Abstract
An analysis of the state of girl’s
schooling system in Pakistan and the reasons for prevailing
inefficiencies.
This paper aims to analyze the steps
that can be taken by the Pakistan government in order to improve the
state of girl’s education and to enable them to transit from
primary education to secondary education. Primary and secondary
analysis over a period of twenty years including surveys, observation
and reviews of programs and policies is used to assess the state of
girl’s education with Pakistan and to highlight the weaknesses
present within the current system.
Research reveals that female education
system within the country is structurally flawed due to improper
implementation of policies and use of politics within teacher
recruitment along with inadequate budget allotted to female education
Findings Include
- Education significantly impacts the reproductive health of women and changes the values that are later on instilled by these women in their children.
- Focus should be placed on ensuring female retention in secondary schools and providing quality education.
- Therefore, the government authorities should invest considerable funds into female education and a minimum of three to four schools must be located in a region in order to aid accessibility to schools.
- Scholarships and cash transfers should be provided to allow affordability whereas focus should also be placed on providing female teachers.
Female education system continues to be neglected in Pakistan which hampers the ability of women to act as a productive asset of the country and therefore government must take steps to eradicate inefficiencies present within the system.
